Default More on the Benoit's story

    # Bob Ryder from 1wrestling.com is reporting that sources close to Nancy Benoit say she had a safety deposit box with evidence of past rages from Chris Benoit, and if anythng were to happen to her, police should check the box. Ryder also reports that about a year ago Chris became paranoid and thought that he was always being followed and would not let Nancy leave the house. In addition, some friends close to Chris say that he hated religion while others say he recently became religious.

    # Some quotes from an interview with District Attorney Scott Ballard - http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2917133
In an interview with ESPN.com on Tuesday, Ballard indicated that the boy had needle marks in his arms. The district attorney said he believed that the boy had been given growth hormones for some time because the family considered him undersized. That was only one of the strange facts that Ballard revealed. He said that two text messages of note caused authorities to investigate the house. In one, Benoit told somebody he knew that his wife and son were sick. "Of course, they were dead," Ballard told ESPN.com. In a second message to a neighbor, Benoit said that the door of the house was open and the pets were outside. "And our assumption is that that was an effort to try and get somebody to come find the bodies after the suicide," Ballard said. "That is our assumption."

Ballard said that Benoit's wife, 43, was killed Friday in an upstairs family room, her feet and wrists were bound and there was blood under her head, indicating a possible struggle. Ballard told ESPN.com that it appeared that she had been pinned to the floor and asphyxiated with some sort of cable. The son, Daniel, was probably killed late Saturday or early Sunday, the body found in his bed, Ballard said. The district attorney indicated that he had been choked to death. Benoit, 40, apparently killed himself several hours and as long as a day later, Ballard said. His body was found in a downstairs weight room, his body found hanging from the pulley of a piece of exercise equipment. Ballard said that he had used weights, the pulley and cable to choke himself to death.

I'm not trying to pass blame or anything, but surely if Benoit was abusive, why keep it to yourself or write about it?!
Seems a bit weird, almost as though she knew it was coming some day.
Strange, especially if she has told people about this...makes you wonder

I am sickened by fans like you. Who the hell are you to judge anyone? There is no one on here trying to make excuses for what he MIGHT have done because IF he did it there is no excuse. You need to get your facts right before you start bitching like that NOTHING has been confirmed about him being the killer everything is still spectulation. If you are smart enough to be one of his fans then you should be smart enough to not crap all over his wrestling career because of something that MIGHT have happened outside of his wrestling career. Its people just like you and those dumbass on Fox News who ruin things. I started to not come on here tonight because I knew there would be a few idiots like yourself who jump ahead before anything have been confirmed and after reading pure crap like you have said opinion or not I wish I had just gone to bed. Come on you said it yourself "appears to have killed" so how is it you can put down people who are actual fans of his for only upholding his wrestling when you admit yourself he still might not have done it.

Ive been watching the news all day long put up with alot of dumb shit about Paris Hilton just to keep up to date on what news there were about this but I never heard anyone say there were marks on her neck only that she was tied up, who confirmed it?
It seems like by wwe's site that they are just forgetting all about Benoit and everything he did for pro wrestling so why talk about the hall of fame anyway or any tribute? He does deserve both I think its BS how he wont be and how they pulled all his stuff from shopzone.
Maybe in a week when you're not being such a mark you'll realize that benoit was a great wrestler and a piece of shit. You never knew him, to say it couldnt be him because his friends say he's a nice guy is ridiculous. As far as his legacy is concerned, yeah, of course we're going to remember him for this, but I expect it'll be like how football fans remember oj. He'll be considered a "great", but no one will ever want to honor him.

And NO, this is not "speculation" anymore, it wasnt "carbon monoxide poisoning", if you've read the facts of the case then you'd know that this as sure of him being guilty as it can be without him admitting he did it or having it on videotape.

As far as the "who are you to judge him" stuff, I guess if thats your viewpoint that we cant judge a guy who kills his own 7 year old, then thats ok, but if you cant judge him then you cant judge anybody.

I do agree with you though, that removing him from the site, etc is a little much. As terrible as this is, people arent going to forget, and people have to make the disctinction between the man and the performer when they watch his old performances. One thing's for sure though, wrestlemania 20's main event is no longer the greatest ever match if it was in the first place. The whole "benoit finally does it" storyline is shot to hell now.

As my first post on this board (and it's not all that great of a topic to choose to use my first post on, but I will never-the-less) I just have one thing to say: "Judge Not; Lest Ye Be Judged". Leave the mans' judgement to God. And no, I do not what so ever agree with, or support the fact that Chris Benoit is a murderer before anyone tries out that shtick on me. But again, it's God who will judge him ultimately, regardless.

That being said, this entire topic has gotten too much for me to sit here and read about (seeing as how I've sat back and just read people argueing back and forth over it as if it really makes a difference at this point in time) and I'll move onto reading/posting about other, more point-oriented topics now.

my opinion is that he turned out to a ruthless sick lunatic killer in the end
i cant even talk about respect for him or anything, its still sinking in what he did. he has murdered his family and himself, caused suffering to so many people and has blackend wrestlings name forever
i do acknoledge that he might have had mental problems but.....

Ignorance is rife in this thread.

Benoit is dead. Fact. Benoit's family is dead. Fact. Benoit killed his wife by asphyxiation. Fact. Benoit killed his seven year old son by asphyxiation. Fact. Benoit hung himself. Fact. Benoit is a murderer. Fact. He had bound his wife by legs and wrists. Fact. She tried to resist. Fact.

Was he a great wrestler? Yes. But all of a sudden that condones everything he did over the weekend? No, not even slightly.

Yet all I hear from people is bias in this thread - asking for facts, denying that he killed them, telling others not to judge due to what his frame of mind was.

Harsh or not, the guy is a murderer. I neither know, nor care, what his mental state was - the fact is that nothing can justify murder, in my opinion. It wasn't manslaughter, it wasn't self-defence. It was murder. Have any of you that tell others "not to judge" ever thought about any other murderer's mentality? To just suddenly say that about Benoit, because he was a great wrestler, is just biased. Deep down, nobody knows what goes through the mind of people - but there is no way of justifying murder.

So no, I'm not coming out with a "Rest in Peace" or a "he's in a better place" or "it's for God to judge". Quite frankly, I don't hope he rests in peace, I don't think he's in a better place and I'm not religious, so I'll be damned (irony) if I have to be told to let God judge and not us. I'm judging the guy because he's a murderer.

    Fact.

Think about this though, with the passing of Eddie, in a true accident, does the murder of Benoit's wife and son kind of tarnish your memory of what kind of person he was?

Its a great shame that they didnt find Benoit before he committed suicide.

They could have then found out what happened, charged Chris with murder and then they could have then executed him live on the next PPV.

They could have renamed it The Great American Trash, and have him in the electric chair in the middle of the ring.

chris benoit was a great wrestler and person and he will gladly be missed. however as much praise as he deserves for his years of devotion and hardwork towards the wrestling business, all of you are overlooking what he did. he fucking killed his wife, and his son. what kind of man kills his 7 year old son? as many problems as he may have had and as much stress the wrestling business puts on someone, what he did was unpraisable. i respect benoit for a wrestler and hope he and his family r.i.p, but what he did was truly fucked up and he will always be remembered as a murderer. (if reports are correct)

It's ironic that another canadian wrestler by the name of Beef Wellington passed away as well a few days ago because the first time I ever saw Chris Benoit was when he teamed with Wellington against Brian Pillman & Jushin Liger at the "Clash Of The Champions" back in June of 2002 and Benoit left such an impression on me & I knew he was going to be someone special.

For now, over 10 years of Chris Benoit memories have been tarnished. I try not to judge people that I don't know but when watching WrestleMania 23 & Backlash the other night at work, I just had a different feeling watching the Benoit/MVP match than I did when I watched it a month earlier. I don't know if I can be able to watch the "Hard Knocks" DVD the same again (if I can ever watch it again) because I don't know if this situation will forever overshadow my Benoit memories. I just really don't know what to say right now & haven't known what to say for the past couple of days because he was one of my favorites of all time & now that everyone been exposed to a side of him that we as fans of the performer or those that knew him as a person didn't know existed (Dr. Jykell & Mr. Hyde). There is no excuse for these actions & I'm making that clear but I'm personally just in more shock & confusion than anger. My thoughts are "Why Chris Why!?!?!" instead of "Burn In Hell Benoit!!!"

thats very sad that you said that.

All of you could learn a thing or two from psychology. Im majoring in it and its very clear to me that he wasnt a murderer. He was a victim of his our demise and his family was forced to suffer and fall with him. Reports show that his wife had evidence of his "roid rage" and it was bothersum. As we all should know, Steroids cause uncontrolable rage and paranoia, etc. That can turn a muscle man into a raging gorilla who is showing signs of someone with paranoid schizophrenia (exp: where you think the government are out to get you and you block yoru drive way or front porch with random objects to protect you, etc). There could also be signs of depression and stress which could of lead to suicidal thoughts. For males, suicidal thoughts lead to not wanting to die alone, so instead a man usually takes his wife out with him.

Now in Beniot's wifes case, roid rage and parania could have driven him to get in a fight and strangle her without him even knowing what he had gone. By the time he snapped too she was dead. By then its odvious psychologically that he went in a state of depression and guilty and what he done (which i bet he was already there before...so now he is like "why even bother live.." thoughts running thru his head). With guilt on his hands he lays a bible by her body as shown by police. He probably sets to kill himself and begins to think that his son doesnt need to "suffer" with a dead mother, a evil father, and a "imperfect" body stuffed with growth hormones....so he puts him to sleep for the last time. HE places anotehr bible by his body...maybe even says a prayer to wish him well with God and his wife, maybe even says sorry..who knows.

Cris is then thought to have sayed in the house for up to a day with the bodies. Yes he could have, its not uncommon. Being mentally unstable, depressed, have suicidal thoughts and filled with guilt...and anything else i can think of that has effected his life in his final days must of left him there in the house quiet, emotionless, sleepless, thoughtless, even lifeless. He makes his way tot he weight room and has his last thought before releasing the weights.

The text messages were sent sunday right? So that must of been after he had done those things. Must of been around the time when his life was meaningless and worthless.

The man was a great wrestler, but now that we have a glimps at his personal life i cant help but feel sorry for him. Wrestling has a lot of demons and its gotten to the best of the best. Its also sad that people will see nothing but what he did and not what he has done.

Remember the wrestler, not the man.
